fantasy is literature for the imagination

i haven't been to the library in a while. in fact, i haven't read a book in a longer while. so over the weekend, i paid a visit to library@orchard. and realised there's nothing worth reading there. then i went to borders and kino. and found that the only book worth reading (anansi boys by neil gaiman) was not worth purchasing cos it was in hardcover. and i don't really care for big books. although it was at a special price... then i went to sunny bookstore at far east. and realised that the other book i wanted (traitor's knot by janny wurts) wasn't worth getting as well, cos i didn't like the cover. (ok, i'm not usually so picky, but it just didn't go with the other 6 books in the series you see....)

and then it hit me. i've lost touch with fantasy books. life is so sad. i mean, in the past, there was dragonlance, mercedes lackey's valdemar series and other books, janny wurts, melanie rawn's dragon prince series, george martin, robert jordan's rather boring uncompleted WoT series, salvatore, eddings, david gemmell, terry brooks, pratchett, piers anthony, the list was endless. now, there's a dearth of fantasy books. it's appalling. depressing. simply awful. or maybe, i just haven't been reading enough. too many cases filling the head with nonsense, and not enough fuel for the imagination. growl.

yes, i realise this is an awfully geek post. but i'd really like a recommendation for a good fantasy author. (and. i. will. personally. murder. anyone. who. tells. me. harry. potter.)

btw, who wants to watch domino? keira knightley!
