come full circle
canoeing gathering at christmastime. it's been this way for the past 5 years, and every year, we return to the place it all started, where we first had our canoeing camp in a new and abandoned house. it was fun though, looking back. oh sure, some might say we virtually sold our souls to canoeing (partly true, because if you ever ask me what i did in jc, you'll get a single word as your answer), but hey, unlike hc and nj, we had a hell lot of fun. (you're free to disagree, not that i care) but who else plays with kittens on the day of their competitions, and still jokes and laughs before a race? (ok, that might be the reason why we didn't win, but hey, as long as you're happy...)well. to sum it up. lots of reminiscing of the past and how lame we used to be (and still are), lots of food (that we couldn't finish due to diminished stomach capacity...gone are the days of training and bottomless stomachs) and general chilling. the years have passed but the camaraderie still remains (after all, this was the bunch i used to see 24/7 for two years!)
strange...no matter how much we grow and mature, when you put the bunch of us back together, you find out that nothing really changed at all. layer upon layer of experience and years, covered in gloss and dross, but scratch the surface and you'll find a maniac who spent his jc life rowing in the kallang sun. and for whom the number 1111 holds special significance. (and his dog's the same age as our team! heh, how cool is that)
