freezing cold, dripping wet, and totally happy
that basically sums up the 4th of January 2006. the day i went sailing in a storm. not the most brilliant of ideas, but after a 6 month hiatus and all the trouble waking up early and travelling down, i wasn't about to let some minor setback prevent me from sailing.it was odd though. bright and sunny, and awfully windy when i was rigging up. then the moment i launched, a huge grey cloud settled overhead and the wind died.
needless to say, when the storm began i had 2 choices, return to shore and cancel, or outsail the storm (almost impossible). sometimes i can be such an idiot. but with the thunderstorm came strong winds, and life was good. (despite being drenched to the skin and shivering to the bone)
although the thought did occur to me. i was out in the middle of the sea with a very tall mast in the midst of a thunderstorm and with lightning everywhere. (but a friend has reassured me in that matter, it being more likely that i'd capsize, get pulled under by the currents or tangled and strangled by the ropes, and drown, rather than get struck by lightning)
a day spent sailing. what more could a guy ask for?
(well, a pretty girl to spend it sailing with, but hey, you can't have everything right...)
sailing
takes me away
to where i've always heard it could be
just a dream and the wind to carry me
and if the wind is right you can sail away
and find tranquility
and if the wind is right you can find the joy
of innocence again
and when the wind is right you can sail away
and find serenity
takes me away
to where i've always heard it could be
just a dream and the wind to carry me
and if the wind is right you can sail away
and find tranquility
and if the wind is right you can find the joy
of innocence again
and when the wind is right you can sail away
and find serenity
