my travel plans!
blog very dead. yeah i know. i have like 2 posts pending which were supposed to coincide with the end of exchange (i.e. last week when i left kingston for good), but i was terribly busy and now i suspect they'll never see the light of day cos the timing's all off.
so anyways, just a quick update, done with a week in london, it was sunny for a day and rainy for the most part, but at least joel was there so i wasn't soggy and wet and miserable and lonely. just the former three. and london in a pinch is essentially about the markets, in much the same way nyc is about the shopping and broadway. plus les mis on broadway i found nicer than les mis on westend, although eponine still remains charmingly cute. but it was good nonetheless. did the whole tea and scones thing in london as well, along with the fish and chips, and the football watching in the bars. but yeah. london. markets. and if you're terribly bored, do the neil gaiman neverwhere trail (i.e. the underground) but despite all that (and the disgustingly high cost of living), i did enjoy london and the charming british accent (especially on the girls). oh, plus i caught "we will rock you" on west end, which was basically an excuse for a queen's greatest hits concert poorly disguised as a musical with no plot. but it was really fun to see the whole theatre jumping around and singing along. once they gave up pretending there was any point to the story.
which brings us to where i am now, in my hostel in paris, having taken random snapshots of the canal next door at night and practiced my gawdawful french on the poor kebab uncle down the street (twas a long, painful dinner, mostly on his part, because i was bored and tried to ask him about his menu and where he came from, in very bad broken french and lots of hand gestures). and there's a mad dog barking outside my hostel (or a dog barking madly rather), and it's been there for the last hour and nobody has shot it or chased it away yet. and tomorrow i will begin my glorious 3 weeks of wandering the streets of paris. the term flâneur comes to mind.
alright. will attempt to update more frequently, although i can't promise pictures! actually, i can quite assuredly promise there won't be any pictures for now. maybe after i go back home and end up terribly bored and missing exchange.
